April 2024: Slow and Steady

Still behind the pace on my reading goals, but it’s been an exciting month! Between finding a few really good reads and making some major writing progress, I am feeling pretty good about how this year is going. It’s slow, but steady.

5 Books in April

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Carnegie’s Maid by Marie Benedict
No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall
Happiness is a Warm Puppy By Charles M. Schulz
The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston

Highest Rated Book: Lessons in Chemistry ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is already on loan to a friend, so it didn’t make the picture above.
Lowest Rated Book: Technically, I rated both No One Can Know and Carnegie’s Maid both ⭐️⭐️⭐️, but of the two books, Carnegie’s Maid was definitely more of a two star read than the other.

Other Goals

Books from My TBR: 4 (Carnegie’s Maid was an April purchase)
Book of the Month editions: 2 (Lessons in Chemistry and No One Can Know)
Hours Spent Writing in April: 64 hours (BIG NEWS COMING)
Total Writing Hours in 2024: 79 hours

Books Bought: 3
Carnegie’s Maid by Marie Benedict
Funny Story by Emily Henry
How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang

Books Gifted: 1
The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo
A friend used my Book of the Month referral link (you can too!), so I earned a free credit to use in April! (Thanks, Dottie!)

Writing News

Did you catch that huge jump in “hours spent writing in April?” Yep! I spent a ton of time writing this month to put together a new collection of poems and short stories as part of National Poetry Month! I’m honestly thrilled with how the collection turned out, and I’ve submitted it as part of a writing challenge/publishing platform. That’s right, with any luck, it will be available for you later this year. No guarantees, but feeling pretty good about it. Stay tuned to this blog and my instagram for more details.
